Something That Can Not Be Bartered for Anything

On July 22, 1983, President Kim Il Sung met with Luise Rinser, a female writer of Germany on a visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

She told the President that air in Korea is pure and clean and so she felt lighthearted and as no attention was paid to air pollution in the Western countries the people suffered from air pollution.

The President said that environmental protection goes well in our country and we should always consider the people’s interests in dealing with all the problems.

He went on to say that the gold deposits were once discovered in Mt. Myohyang (a renowned mountain in DPRK) however, he stopped to dig the gold from it.

He said: The beautiful scenery of Mt. Myohyang cannot be bartered for some tons of gold, we can live without gold, our people would be glad to enjoy and have a good time in Mt. Myohyang, and the interests of the people cannot be bartered for anything.
